Let me introduce myself to those who may not know me. My name is Carmen Adolphus. I enjoy writing and have been doing so for years. I write about everything. I find it therapeutic and it helps me process my thoughts and feelings. I especially like writing letters to God.
I am a part of ETAC Lighthouse Ministries and I will be sharing different parts of my journey and how God has played a role in all of it. All of that makes me who I am and by allowing God into all parts of my life, He continues to mold me and make me whole.
I chose the name Parts of Me because as I was driving one day, I felt God revealed that name for my blog. The story is a bit longer and I write about it at some point but in a nutshell, I believe there are many parts or sides to me and all of you.. and God created all of it (Psalm 139 13-14).
The bible says in 1 Corinthians 14 NIV – 14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many. And verse 27 – Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.. (I realize this was referring to the many gifts in the body of Christ, but it is still true).
Yet if we are honest with ourselves, we recognize that a lot of us at some point or another have or have had broken pieces that we do not want the world to see. We present ourselves to the world as humanly perfect as possible.
We suppress and hide behind the makeup, the hair, suits and ties, smiling faces yet we all know deep down what’s broken inside of us, what we desperately want God to fix and/or what we desperately don’t want the world to see, fears, struggles (whether spiritually, financially, socially, in health, with family, friends etc.). However, the bible says that God knows ALL of our ways (Psalm 139:3). He knows our thoughts, our hearts, our minds, before we think, He already knows.
Throughout my life, I have tried and tried to do things my way thinking that I know best. However, I have failed in my own strength. I kept going around the same mountain over and over until I realized that unless I surrender and let God have ALL parts of me, I cannot be whole. I cannot give Him my sacrifice but keep my pride. I cannot give Him my praise yet go out and be hateful towards others, etc. Because of this, I have decided to give God ALL parts of me, and I am believing and trusting that He is restoring me and making me whole.
In this journey, I hope to share and speak about all areas of our lives and show you how God is concerned with ALL parts of us. And that if we would just humble ourselves and cry out to God, leave room for Him to do that which we cannot do, He is faithful to see us through. I am a witness to the countless times I have seen God come through for me.
I am here to encourage each of you, to give hope and share practical ways to deal with life’s daily issues. I hope that you can relate to some or all of what I will share. My hope is also that if you have not already done so, you go ahead, trust God, and give Him ALL parts and areas of your lives and you too will see the Power of God in your life.
I started this introduction referencing 1 Corinthians 14 which speaks about the gifts and diversity God has placed in the Body of Christ (the Church). I will end it with Romans 12 NIV which also references the different gifts we all have been given, verse 8 specifically talks about encouragement..
8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; I believe that is my ministry…
Be encouraged.
